Working in Tokyo

My work in Tokyo

So while I was still touring Tokyo and sightseeing, I was also able to work at a small bakery in the heart of Tokyo. It was a well known bakery that has been there for over 80 years! They made everything daily from croissants to artisan breads to curry flavored buns. Everything was handcrafted by the employees and the owner (who actually was able to train in France!). My time there was such a blast (mainly cuz I was able to eat everything!).

I think my favorite part was when they found out that I cooked. The entire staff made me make them “American” style Spaghetti. Their reaction was surprising. Later I found out that most Japanese style Spaghetti is not used with a ¬†standard tomato sauce. Instead they use Smelt Roe(fish eggs) and olive oil. I wasn’t all that crazed about it, but it definitely made an impact on me! I’ll never forget my experience there.

If you’re ever in the area (in Oji), you should check out the Meijido Bakery! You’ll never want to buy from any other bakery again!
